St Joseph’s was delighted to welcome the internationally known harpist Elfair Grug to perform at a gala concert at the start of the St Joseph’s 150 Flower Festival.
Elfair has recently returned to the UK after living in Bangkok, Thailand for two years working as a harp teacher and harpist in residence at the Tamnak Prathom Harp Centre.
Elfair completed her Master’s degree with distinction at the RNCM in Manchester, after gaining her BMus degree at the conservatoire with first class honours in 2011 as an ABRSM Scholar. Following successes in major competitions, she is a young accomplished musician who has embarked on a professional career as a freelance harpist; including working for the Live Music Now scheme and touring with the harp quartet CLOUDS.
For the concert Elfair performed a range of music all with a Welsh harp connection, either written for the instrument itself, for a Welsh harpist or written by a Welsh composer.
